Understanding Emotional Eating: Identifying Subconscious Warning Signs of Psychological Hunger

As you start to lose weight, you'll feel better about yourself. This renewed sense of self-worth can greatly boost your willpower. Once you see results, you'll want to lose even more. Before you know it, you've developed a healthy lifestyle habit. But to achieve the best results, you need to measure your body from the beginning. To measure your body, all you need is a measuring tape and paper and pen. When measuring, wear thin underwear or nothing at all.

We have five body parts to measure: chest, biceps, waist, hips, and thighs. The chest measurement should be taken around the highest point of the chest. The biceps measurement should be taken between the elbow and shoulder. The waist measurement should be taken at the narrowest point, or one inch below the navel. The hip measurement should be taken at the widest point with the feet together. Finally, the thigh measurement should also be taken at the widest point. While exercising, try to do these body measurements once a week instead of weighing yourself. You'll likely prefer the results.

Physical exercise offers numerous health benefits. It lowers cholesterol, balances blood sugar, positively impacts brain cells, and improves overall metabolism. For those who exercise regularly, when they eat sweets, the sugar is directly transported to muscles instead of being stored as fat. Once in the muscles, the sugar is burned more quickly and efficiently. Therefore, maintaining exercise can even make you eligible for sweets. Physical activity also benefits the brain, promoting deeper sleep. As a result, people can get the same amount of sleep in a shorter time. Good sleep makes you feel more relaxed, and improves cognitive and concentration abilities.

Physical exercise also increases the levels of endorphins in the brain. This substance helps us cope with stress and makes us feel better mentally. Because muscles need fat for energy, exercise increases the body's metabolic rate. However, the body's ability to burn fat actually requires a combination of fat, sugar, and oxygen. So, balance is key. You'll discover the health benefits of exercise; it can improve your heart function, cholesterol, and blood sugar, and it can also help you enjoy better sleep quality. Mentally, your stress can be relieved, and your emotions will be more balanced. Exercise also nourishes the soul and ultimately allows you to reconnect with your true self.

The proverb "No pain, no gain" originally referred to the bountiful harvest resulting from hard work. However, here it refers to emotional healing and its positive impact on weight. The way people think and feel plays a decisive role in their weight. Unfortunately, negative emotions can lead to overeating. Perhaps we're angry with our husbands and end up overeating out of anger. Sometimes, emotions drain us, leaving us with no choice but to fill ourselves with food. Or, when we feel lonely, we comfort ourselves with food. Sometimes, when we feel exhausted due to stress or lack of sleep, we also crave food to feel more energized.
