The Documentary Weight Loss Method Explained: A Scientific, Phased Guide to Weight Loss Without Dieting

To explain the "run-up phase," I must first begin with my personal experience.

How did I discover this "run-up phase"? And what exactly is this so-called "record-breaking weight loss"?

This requires starting with my physique a year ago.

A 117 kg, 42% body fat man was walking the streets of Kichijoji. Even though cherry blossom season had just ended and the weather was still cool, I was sweating profusely and panting after just a few steps.

I bought an ice cream at a convenience store and ate it as I walked. Afterward, I happened to arrive at the famous "Sato Nikuten" in Kichijoji and joined the long queue, wanting to satisfy my sweet tooth with their famous fried meat patties.

This chubby man was me a year ago. I was 171 cm tall, had a 120 cm waist, and wore a 5L top. One size larger than L is LL, and one size larger still is 3L. You can imagine the size of a 5L top.

As you can imagine, clothes like these can't be found at UNIQLO. You can only go to plus-size clothing stores or order by mail, but the selection and variety are very limited. It always feels like plus-size people are limited to just buying whatever they want to wear.

When flying, regular seatbelts don't fit; I have to use extension straps. The seats are too cramped, making it painful; I can only book first class. On the Shinkansen, sitting in economy class would annoy my neighbors, so I have to choose the more spacious first-class carriage. I never imagined that being plus-size would come at such an extra financial cost.

However, I still feel very happy. I haven't thought about losing weight, nor do I want to deprive my stomach.

I call myself a "foodie."

Kichijoji has been listed as one of the "most desirable places to live" for five consecutive years. I was born in Osaka and moved to Kichijoji when I was 28, and have lived here for 20 years. It changes rapidly; new shops and restaurants open every week. Living in a place like this, exploring new restaurants has become one of my greatest hobbies. Whenever I hear a new shop has opened, I immediately rush over to try it out.

A year ago, during cherry blossom season, Kichijoji experienced another peak in new shop openings. Dozens of trendy new shops sprang up throughout the streets and alleys.

I read every issue of Kichijoji featured in popular magazines like *HANAKO*. I searched online for information about Kichijoji's food and even met many fellow food enthusiasts.

Going out to find good food every day, I would unconsciously forget many details, like what was delicious or what had a great atmosphere. I don't know when it started, but I began taking notes.

My notes grew longer and longer.
