3. Personalized medication in combination therapy and the root causes of obesity in Chinese people

Understanding Cocktail Therapy

"Cocktail weight loss therapy" combines "exercise prescription", "eating habit change" and "drug therapy". It is a kind of "hybrid weight loss therapy" that tailors a weight loss prescription and medication according to each patient's different body shape, eating habits and physical condition. Therefore, each patient's prescription medication is different and is "tailor-made" according to each person's physical condition.

A patient once tried a cocktail diet and quickly dropped from 110 kg to 93 kg. Because of its effectiveness, he gave his prescription to his wife, but after several days, she saw no results. This illustrates that everyone's body is different, requiring different prescriptions. The same prescription that works for a husband may not work for a wife; similarly, a prescription that works for a mother may not work for a daughter.

The "cocktail diet" is also a weight loss method I designed specifically for Chinese people. This is mainly because Chinese people's eating habits are very different from those of Westerners, and most of the weight loss drugs and methods currently available on the market are foreign products and may not be completely suitable for Chinese people.

Just like the currently popular "Xenical" blue pills, many pharmacies were already selling them before the health authorities approved their market launch, and overweight people were rushing to take them. However, the long-term effects were not as expected. Many patients told me that they spent a lot of money buying the blue pills, but after taking them, not only did they not lose weight significantly, but they also had a strong craving for food, leaving them full of doubts. Aren't the blue pills very effective in clinical trials in Western countries? The main reason is that the principle of "Xenical" weight loss lies in inhibiting the enzymes that break down fat, so that 30% of the fat is not absorbed by the body and is excreted.

Western diets are typically high in fat, and "Xenical" works by enhancing the body's fat elimination and inhibiting fat absorption, naturally making it more effective for weight loss in Westerners. However, "Xenical" cannot eliminate existing body fat; it only prevents the absorption of ingested fat, making it a short-term weight loss drug unsuitable for long-term use. Furthermore, "Xenical" cannot eliminate fat converted from starchy foods, so its effectiveness is significantly lower for Chinese people whose diets are primarily starchy.

However, for many Chinese people, obesity is caused by "eating too much"! Some people may not eat snacks, but they still can't skip rice or noodles at a meal. As some medical and biochemical reports have pointed out, high starch content is a significant factor in obesity among Chinese people, because the average starch content in the diets of obese populations in other countries is lower than ours. This proves that obesity in Chinese people is definitely related to excessive starch intake.

Does white rice turn into fat?

Since rice is the staple food of Chinese people, and even East Asians in general, one must be very curious: how does rice, a grain, turn into fat and oil once it enters the stomach?

In fact, all food is synthesized from carbohydrates. Plants, through enzymatic breakdown, are converted into fatty acids. These fatty acids, in turn, are broken down by enzymes in the human body and transformed into muscle and fat. In other words, when we eat starchy foods, the amylase in our bodies takes effect, converting the starch into fat. This explains why rice turns into fat after being eaten.

There's a true story: A nun came to my weight loss clinic hoping to lose weight using a "cocktail therapy." She told me, "I swear, I absolutely haven't been secretly eating meat! But why have I gotten so fat? I'm so fat, it's hard to face my followers! People will suspect I haven't followed the precepts. I'm a nun, I only eat rice and not meat, and I'm still so fat, it just doesn't make sense!"

This is indeed a common concern for many people facing obesity, who often believe that not eating meat will prevent them from gaining weight. The "cocktail therapy" aims to unravel this mystery and tell everyone the correct way to lose weight.

Which obese individuals are suitable for cocktail therapy?

Looking back, when I first opened my clinic, my goal was to treat patients with diseases caused by obesity, such as fatty liver, diabetes, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, and even sexual dysfunction.

According to a medical report, for every 10 kilograms of weight gain beyond the normal range, a person's lifespan decreases by two years. Furthermore, many cancers are closely related to obesity, such as liver cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and lung cancer. By helping patients lose weight, not only will their original condition improve, but the chances of developing other complications will also significantly decrease. Through word of mouth, over time, nearly 70% of my patients come to me because their illnesses are caused by obesity.

"Cocktail therapy" is a weight loss method I developed specifically for obesity caused by the unique dietary habits of Chinese people, and it is particularly effective for the following obese groups:

People who are prone to gaining weight

Many obese patients complain that they gain weight even from eating just a little bit, or even from drinking water. In fact, this type of patient mainly has a problem with a certain amylase in their body. Therefore, treating the abnormal part directly will be effective.

People with a high rate of weight regain

Most people who want to lose weight have had more than one weight loss experience. The main reason is that the weight loss methods they used before only reduced the body water content, but did not reduce the main cause of obesity-the fat percentage. Therefore, as long as they eat a little bit, their weight will immediately rebound.

Some people can lose weight successfully by eating diet meals, exercising, or dieting, but unfortunately, the weight loss usually doesn't last long and the weight rebounds quickly.

Stubborn obesity group

Many people are like this: they try all sorts of methods and spend a lot of money, but they still can't lose weight. The main reason is that their weight loss methods are incorrect, they haven't found the real cause of their obesity, or they have developed resistance in their physiological structure due to choosing a single weight loss method, so it is not easy to lose weight.
